Editing Services

Where moody, character-driven stories get the clarity and care they deserve—one word at a time.

Below you’ll find an overview of the editing services I currently offer, including my signature hybrid edit, developmental feedback options, and early-stage reader services. My approach is thoughtful, honest, and tailored to authors who care about craft.

Hybrid Edit (Line + Developmental)

Standard Rate: $0.015/word
Rush Rate: $0.020/word (turnaround in under 3 weeks)

This is my most comprehensive service—a one-pass edit that blends line-level polish with big-picture insight.

What’s included:

  • Sentence-level editing for tone, flow, rhythm, and clarity
  • Developmental commentary on structure, pacing, and character arcs
  • Beta-style in-line reactions to emotional beats and key moments

📌 Ideal for authors with a solid draft who are ready for professional feedback and sentence-level refinement in one powerful pass.

Developmental Edit Only

Rate Range: $0.010–$0.012/word
(Rate depends on manuscript clarity, complexity, and scope)

This service focuses exclusively on story structure and character development, without editing your prose line by line.

What’s included:

  • A detailed editorial letter addressing plot, pacing, and character arcs
  • In-line comments where relevant
  • No tracked sentence-level edits or grammar corrections

📌 Best for early-stage revisions or authors who want story feedback before moving into the polish phase.

What’s Included with Every Edit or Read

No matter which service you choose—hybrid edit, developmental feedback, or an alpha/beta read—you’ll receive thoughtful, personalized insight designed to support both your story and your creative goals.

Every project includes:

  • A transmittal letter outlining key edits, revision suggestions, and the editorial focus

  • A summary report highlighting strengths, opportunities, and clear next steps

  • Optional promotional support, including:

    • Reviews on Amazon, Goodreads, and StoryGraph

    • Social media engagement when your content crosses my feed

Curious how I review books I read?Whether it’s an ARC, a beta/alpha read, or a book I’ve edited and later reread for fun, I often share reviews from a reader’s perspective—not an editorial one. I focus on the experience of reading: what resonated, who it might be perfect for, and what didn’t quite land (always with kindness).

If you’re happy with our work together, spreading the word makes a huge impact. A tag, shoutout, or referral goes a long way—and it’s one of the kindest ways to support freelancers and indie editors.

File Submission Guidelines

To keep edits efficient and focused, please submit a clean, well-formatted file.

  • Format: .docx preferred (Google Docs okay with comment access)

  • Style: 12 pt, double-spaced, standard font (e.g., Times New Roman, Calibri or Arial)

  • Cleanliness: No tracked changes unless discussed; basic spellcheck completed

Especially for rush projects: Clean files = faster edits. If your draft needs major cleanup, we’ll factor that into the timeline.
