“Give me a forest, a fairytale, and a feeling I won’t recover from.”
Hi, I’m Kate.
I’m a reader, writer, editor, and lifelong student of stories who believes in reading with intention.
I believe everyone can be a book person—whether you read one book a year or one hundred. Whether your shelves are filled with classics, thrillers, middle grade adventures, fantasy worlds, or dog-eared library books you’ve loved for decades.
For me, reading has never been about keeping up. It’s about connection. Curiosity. Wonder. The stories that stay with us long after we’ve turned the final page.
Plot & Paper is where I explore those stories as a reader, study them as a writer, and support them as an editor.
Welcome—I’m glad you’re here.
The Reader
Over the years, I’ve learned that the books that matter most aren’t always the newest, trendiest, or most popular. They’re the books that arrive at the right moment and leave a lasting mark. Reading With Intention is my approach to building a reading life rooted in curiosity, joy, and meaningful connection rather than pressure, productivity, or trends.
Reading Through an Orange Lens
If you’ve spent time around Plot & Paper, you’ve probably come across the phrase Orange Reader—a playful way of describing my love of atmospheric stories, emotional journeys, a touch of wonder, and books that linger long after the final page. It’s less a rulebook and more a reading lens: one way I understand the stories that resonate most deeply with me.
Stories That Stay With Us
Whether I’m exploring a Stephen King novel, revisiting a childhood favorite, diving into a literary classic, or helping an author strengthen a manuscript, I’m always searching for the same thing: stories that leave a lasting mark.
That’s what you’ll find here at Plot & Paper—book reviews, reading projects, reflections on craft, and a celebration of the stories that stay with us long after the final page.
But stories don’t just shape my reading life—they shape my professional life as well.
The Writer & Editor
As a writer and editor, my love of stories extends beyond reading them.
I’m currently completing a degree in Writing & Rhetoric with minors in Creative Writing and Technical Communication, where I study the craft, structure, and impact of storytelling across genres and mediums.
As a freelance developmental editor, line editor, and beta reader, I work with authors to strengthen their manuscripts while preserving the voice and vision that make each story unique. My goal is never to rewrite a story into my own, but to help writers tell theirs with clarity, confidence, and heart.
If you’re interested in learning more about how I work with authors, I’d love to invite you to explore my Editorial Approach and Editorial Services pages.
