Working with me
What is it like to work with you?

Working with me is collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded in respect for your voice. I approach every project as a partnership—offering honest, constructive feedback while honoring the story you’re trying to tell. You can expect clear communication, detailed insights, and an editor who genuinely cares about your work and your growth as a writer.

How involved are you during the editing process?

I’m engaged and available, but I’m not hovering. You’ll receive thorough feedback in the manuscript and a clear summary of next steps. If questions come up, I’m happy to clarify—but I also build my edits to stand on their own so you’re never left guessing what I meant or what to do next.

Do you respect an author's voice?

Absolutely. Preserving your voice is a core part of my editing philosophy. My goal is never to rewrite your work, but to help your writing sound more like itself—clearer, stronger, and more intentional. If a suggestion risks changing your voice or intent, I’ll flag it rather than enforce it.

What kind of writers do you work best with?

I work best with authors who are open to feedback, curious about craft, and willing to revise thoughtfully. You don’t need to be experienced or confident—you just need to care about the story you’re telling and be ready to engage with the process.

Can I push back on an edit or suggestion?

Yes. Always. Editing is a conversation, not a command. If something doesn’t sit right, I encourage you to ask questions or push back. I’ll explain my reasoning, and you’re free to decide what ultimately serves your story best.

Will you fix everything for me?

No—and that’s intentional. I’ll identify issues, explain what’s happening, and offer clear suggestions, but I won’t rewrite your book for you. My role is to support your growth as a writer while strengthening the manuscript—not to take authorship away from you.

What if I feel nervous or overwhelmed by feedback?

That’s normal. I aim to be honest and compassionate, and I structure feedback to be actionable rather than discouraging. You’re always welcome to take time, ask clarifying questions, or approach revisions at a pace that feels manageable.

Do you take on every project that comes your way?

No — and that’s intentional.
I take on a limited number of projects at a time and only work with manuscripts that are a good fit for my skills, availability, and content boundaries. This allows me to give each project the attention and care it deserves. If I don’t feel I’m the right editor for your story, I’ll always be honest and, when possible, point you toward another resource.
