Can Do. Won’t Do. Here’s Why.
I won’t yuck your yum—but I will protect my peace.
These guidelines apply to all Plot & Paper feedback services, including editing, beta reading, and alpha reading.
Please review them before submitting your manuscript. This ensures I’m the right fit for your story—and that I can provide feedback that’s thoughtful, honest, and aligned with my editorial approach.
If your manuscript includes sensitive content (especially anything listed below), please note it in your request. If you’re unsure whether something crosses a line, feel free to email me. I’m open to conversation—as long as my boundaries are respected if I decline.
I’m LGBTQ+ friendly, BIPOC-affirming, and fully supportive of diverse identities, relationships, and cultural perspectives.
I do not accept manuscripts that promote harmful stereotypes, discriminatory ideologies, or glorify abuse and oppression.
I happily accept Middle Grade and Young Adult submissions without disclaimers—unless they brush up against the content below. While these genres typically avoid heavy adult themes, I still ask for transparency about difficult or potentially triggering topics.

Here’s where I draw the line—and where I light up with excitement to read. Use these notes to help decide if your story aligns with my values and preferences. Transparency helps us both feel confident moving forward.
Hard Limits
I Will Not Accept Manuscripts That Contain the Following:
- Graphic, on-page rape or child sexual assault
(Mentions or non-detailed references are okay, but I will not read explicit scenes or vivid flashbacks.) - Sexual violence used as a twist or shock factor
(This includes rape or assault added purely to make a villain worse or to create trauma without emotional weight or resolution.) - Graphic domestic violence
(Non-explicit references are fine, but I won’t read scenes that describe abuse in real time with high detail.) - Hate speech, bigotry, or content that promotes harmful ideologies
(Including racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism, etc.) - LGBTQ+ or BIPOC representation used as shock value or portrayed through harmful tropes
(Authentic, respectful representation is always welcome—tokenization or trauma bait is not.) - Pregnancy tropes or breeding kinks, including:
- Forced pregnancy
- Breeding fetish content (including kink-centered storylines)
- Pregnancy as a major plot device (e.g., surprise baby arcs, secret baby, or pregnancy used solely to drive conflict)
- Forced pregnancy
- Kink dynamics involving “Daddy”/“Mommy” titles or sugar relationships
(These specific dynamics are outside my comfort zone and not a match for my editorial focus.) - Slavery or captivity kink (especially non-con or romanticized)
(I do not accept manuscripts that portray captivity or ownership as love.) - Age gap relationships with power imbalances, grooming, or fetishization
(See Soft Limits below for nuanced cases.) - Romance tropes that rely on fetishization or “plotless kink” (See list below for specifics.)
Soft Limits
May Require Discussion Before Acceptance
These themes aren’t instant deal-breakers, but I need context to determine whether I’m comfortable proceeding.
If your manuscript contains any of these, please provide details in the trigger warnings section so I can determine if I am comfortable proceeding.
- Extreme violence, torture, or excessive gore
- Dubious consent / power-imbalance relationships
- Revenge-driven characters who engage in cruelty
- Religious or political themes
- Mental illness portrayal
- Age gap relationships
(5–10 year gap max is okay, only if power dynamics are equal, there’s no fetishization, and “Daddy”-style kink language is not involved.) - Dark romance and morally gray characters
- Accidental pregnancy or pregnancy loss
(Handled with emotional nuance? Totally open to discussing.) - Trauma-stacked narratives with no resolution
(I need emotional payoff, recovery, or narrative healing.)
Tropes
Tropes I Enjoy | Tropes I Avoid |
Found Family Enemies-to-Lovers (non-toxic) Grumpy x Sunshine Second chance romance Fake dating Forced Proximity Slow Burn Best friend/sibling of a friend (when handled with care) |
Breeding Kinks “Daddy”/”Mommy” dynamics Sugar relationships Slavery or captivity romance (especially non-con or romanticized) Sexual violence used as plot device Over-sexualized, kink-for-kink’s-sake plots Love triangles with no emotional depth or payoff Trauma used only for shock without resolution |
What I Love to Read & Edit
If your story fits one of these vibes, I’m probably your ideal editor:
- Emotionally intense, character-driven fiction
Give me complicated protagonists, moral gray areas, and stories that make readers feel—whether it’s grief, rage, longing, or a quiet kind of hope. - Fantasy with teeth
Dark, romantic, whimsical, or gothic—I love immersive worldbuilding, flawed heroes, and stories where magic costs something. - Orange Reader-core thrillers
Moody, psychological, or unsettling. I’m here for unreliable narrators, twisted relationships, and secrets buried deep in cursed towns or family lineages. - Middle Grade & YA with substance
From creepy adventures to magical coming-of-age arcs, I adore emotionally rich stories for younger readers—especially those with heart, mystery, or quirky charm. - Romance with character and payoff
I’m not opposed to spice, but I prefer longing, tension, and layered dynamics over kink-centered chaos. Closed-door or off-page scenes? Totally fine. Over-sexualized plots? Not my thing.
