Is Your Manuscript Ready?

Whether you’re submitting for editing, coaching, or feedback—it’s important to make sure your manuscript is at the right stage. This helps us work efficiently, meet your goals, and avoid chaos (for both of us).

Developmental Editing

Acceptable Drafts: First drafts, exploratory drafts, messy drafts.

I’ll review structure, character arcs, pacing, and overall cohesion. If you’re still figuring out your story or world, that’s totally fine. Alpha reader feedback is helpful at this stage, but not required.

📌 Note: You do NOT need polished prose for a dev edit. Spelling and grammar aren’t the focus.

Line Editing or Hybrid Edit

Manuscript must be clean and cohesive.

This is for sentence-level polish—flow, tone, clarity, and rhythm. Your story structure should already be solid.

What I’m expecting:

  • No major plot holes
  • No missing chapters or “rewrite later” sections
  • One main draft version, not a Franken-book from five revisions

💡 If your draft is still in early shape or you haven’t had feedback on your plot, a developmental edit is the better starting point.

Beta or Alpha Reading

Beta reads are not developmental edits. They’re meant for emotionally resonant, story-complete drafts that need reader impressions, not structural repair.

What to expect from me as a beta/alpha reader:

  • Reactions to emotional moments, characters, pacing
  • Notes on engagement, clarity, consistency
  • Honest feedback on what works and what doesn’t

What not to expect:

  • Plot reconstruction
  • Copyediting or grammar checks
  • Me fixing your story for free 😉

📌 If your story hasn’t been through at least one revision post-dev-edit, hold off on beta requests.
